As a buyer, you may be wondering if you can reserve an item.

We’ve all had those moments. You see an item we really want but can’t pull the trigger right at that moment.

As a seller, you may be wondering if it’s possible for you to hold an item for someone.

This blog will address how to reserve an item, as a buyer or seller, and explain the yellow reserve flag you may have seen appear on a listing.

Can you reserve items on Poshmark?

For starters, let’s address the yellow reserve flag that appears on listings.

You won’t be able to purchase any items with yellow reserve flags on them. They are reserved because they are in the process of being bought. The item will either be marked as sold or back on the market within the next 10 minutes.

So, when you start the buying process for an item, the item will technically be reserved for 10 minutes.

Other than that, there are no “official” ways to reserve items on Poshmark. However, there is a way for sellers to help you out if they choose to.

How to reserve an item on Poshmark

I’m going to start off with the disclaimer that because there is no official ways to reserve items on Poshmark, it’s entirely up to the seller if they want to un-officially reserve an item.

In my experience, sellers don’t extend favors for just anyone. I myself am also selective on who I do these two un-official ways to reserve an item for.

In general, try to avoid asking for sellers to reserve items. It’s extra work that usually ends in the buyer deciding not to purchase.

However, if you truly plan on purchasing the item, but just need an extra day or two, you can comment on the listing that you plan on purchasing and kindly ask for them to reserve the item for ___ amount of time.

From there, a seller can potentially hold an item in two ways:

1. Sellers can add *Reserved* in the title of the item

After asking nicely in the comments if the seller will reserve the item, if they say yes, they can choose to put *Reserved* or *Do Not Buy* in the item’s title.

If the seller says no, don’t get upset or mad. Remember this is many people’s business and way of making money. In my experience, reserving items usually ends in the person not purchasing said item.

If they do add the *reserve* in the title, act quick, because this is not an official reserve. Anyone can still buy the item.

Overall, I recommend either buying an item or saving it to your likes to think about for a few days. Asking for the item to hold is usually an inconvenience for sellers, it won’t be on reserve long, and the item can still be purchased since it’s not an official reserve.

Sellers, I do not recommend reserving any items that have active offers.

2. Seller can mark the item as Not For Sale

After asking nicely for an item to be on hold, if they say yes, they can change the listing from Active to ‘Not For Sale’ for a brief time.

Again, this is up to the seller. If they choose to do this, the item will not be available for anyone to purchase.

Sellers, you can not do this for any item that has an active offer.

Keep all sales within Poshmark

To avoid Poshmark scams and scammers, Poshmark has a rule to keep all sales inside of the platform. I highly encourage everyone to follow this rule.

Meaning, don’t be that person that asks to take the sale outside of the platform. You will look like a scammer.

Don’t make a habit of asking for holds

Lastly, don’t make asking for reserves a habit. Like I said earlier, many sellers won’t say yes. I myself am selective on who I choose to do this for as well.

Liking an item will save it to your likes. This way, if you can’t buy it right away, you can come back and see if it’s available next week. If it’s not available anymore, maybe it wasn’t meant to be!

Be kind to sellers, even if they say no. Be kind to buyers, even if you aren’t fond of being asked to reserve items. Remember, Poshmark is a community!(:
