What are Poshmark tag lists, follow games, and share games?

A question I get often is, “what are these share and follow games and what is a tag list?” Followed by, “are they beneficial to my closet?”

In this post I am going to go over what these are, how to create them, and my opinion on if they are beneficial or not.

What is a tag list?

A tag list is a group of people who tag each other each other in new listings such as, parties, new follow games, and new share groups.

Tag lists are used to update and notify those who ask to join of price drops, new games, or parties within your or others closet.

Being apart of a tag list allows you to connect with a group of people that will help further and expand your community involvement.

Below is an example of a tag list.

Creating your own tag list

Starting your own tag list is as simple as posting a listing with a picture like the example above. Anyone can create a tag list.

  1. Create a image like the example above through free editing apps like photo grid. Make sure the image is in square format.

  2. Post as a listing

  3. Put original price as $0 and listing price as $999,999 or more.*

  4. Post

* Some people choose different original/listing prices to put on their tag lists. This is what I like to put.

The people who comment and ask to join, are now part of your tag list. You can also add your Posh friends forever (PFF) to this list. (PFF is one of the commonly used acronyms on Poshmark)

When you find new follow games, or price drops in others closet's, tag your tag list!

Tag someone by using the @ symbol and typing their username.

My suggestion is starting with a tag list of 15 people or more before moving onto the follow game.

What is the follow game?

The follow game is created for one to have a group of people (AKA PFF’S) that follow, like, and share you and your followers to increase followers in their closets.

You can help get this game going by tagging your followers and likers from your tag list. This is one reason why I think the tag list should be the first created.

Creating your own follow game

To create your own follow game you will follow the steps in the create your own tag list. The difference here is you are typing different wording. The follow game is different from the tag lists because the follow games intentions are to help increase closest visibility by helping gain followers. The expectation to tag or share is not there, just follows. Sharing is always nice, but not required. Be sure to read the poshers instruction on the follow game. Sometimes they do want followers to share, however this is not the intentions for the follow game.

Create a listing like the one below to start your own follow game.

What is the share game?

The share game is created for the more active and social poshers. The goal of the share game is to get a group of poshers together who are looking for more community involvement and also increase closet visibility.

Sharing your and others listings increase closet visibility, which leads to more sales and followers.

Most game owners will require a certain amount of shares and follows for you to be an active participant in the game and receive a closet feature.

Creating your own share game

To create your own share game you will again follow steps from creating your own tag list and follow game. This listing will require a little more creativity and knowledge of the platform. Usually, the more experienced poshers hold these games and there is a ton of creativity involved and they can vary on the amount of activity necessary to be an active posher in this game/group.

Create the listing like the one below to start your own share game.

Do these games help your closet?

This is a big question I get from a lot of my PFF’s.

Of course this question is not that simple and a lot of this question depends on the poshers intention on the platform. Below are my opinions on who these games work best for.

1. Seller (beginner)

In my opinion, this is when it is most important to join some share and follow games. The beginning goal is to increase your following as a new posher. You do that until you get a sizable following and you feel like your closet name has been around and seen by a good handful of followers.

2. Seller (experienced)

As an experienced seller myself, I have noticed I got into an obligation with all these games and definitely overwhelmed myself.

With that being said, I recommend slowly asking to be removed from these list once you feel like you are in a good place in your closet and only keeping up with a close few. Often, I found myself sharing back all the same closet and not making your own closet the top priority.

The same goes with when you host one yourself. I recommend you caping the share game to a max of 50 and a minim of 10. This will help keep control of the game and keep you from feeling like you are nonstop sharing.

3. Buyer

These games don’t really have any significance to the buyer. The importance of the buyer in this game is getting your closet visible to them.

4. Social

These games and groups are definitely a hit for the social group. It’s a great place to gain some great PFFs, get to know them, and chat with them in your own time and space. The comments can be seen by all so it can even be a group chat when replying to the most recent comment.

Know your reason for participating in these games

In my 3 years experience with these type of groups I have had great success with the intended purposes. My reason for participating in these games was to gain shares, followers, increase closet visibility, and bring in more sales.

However, due to the obligations they require and my closet size growing bigger and bigger, I began putting my own closet last.

If you play, they are helpful, but keep in mind that your closet always comes first and should always be your top priority.

This can be a confusing topic, so if you have any questions, please reach out to me!
