Episode two brings a highly anticipated showdown: Poshmark vs. Mercari. This showdown can be a bit unfair because you can sell anything on Mercari while Poshmark is clothes, accessories, and home decor. If you’re looking to sell toys, this might not be the best comparison. But if you’re deciding which one to sell clothes and accessories on, read on. We’ve sold on both, but one of them, we left very unsatisfied.

Counteroffer
Poshmark
The golden feature of Poshmark is the Counteroffer. Buyers have the ability to counter one of your items with a lower price. This is where you can negotiate and make more sells. Some people will try to low-ball you, but the beauty of this feature is that you can simply say yes or no.
Mercari
From our understanding, the offer system is similar in that the buyer will send you an offer and you have the ability to counter, accept, or decline. Mercari actually has a cap so that people cannot extremely low-ball you.
Two main and most important difference:
1) Anytime someone likes one of your items on Poshmark, we recommend sending them a 10% discount. On Mercari, if you send a discount to a liker you are not allowed to offer another discount for three days. Once the three days expire, you are allowed to offer another discount, but it has to be an ADDITIONAL 10% off each time.
2) Poshmark allows you to share your closet as much as you want (we recommend 3-5 times a day) to increase closet visibility. On Mercari, we have not found a convenient way to share the closet. The only similar option we found was a 'Promote to Everyone' button that allows you to promote 10 items in a 24-hour period. Only 10 items, AND it automatically drops the price of your item 5%.
These two points above, are the main reasons we were disappointed with Mercari. Stay tuned for next weeks Reseller Showdown: Poshmark vs. Facebook Market.
