After reading this blog you will have a better understanding of how to use the offer feature, as a seller, to increase your chance of making the sell.
I encourage you to take the time to read through this blog. This has some of the best tips I have ever given away. For free.
Below are my golden 6 tips that have allowed me to maximize the ‘offer to likers’ features and ultimately make more sells.
1. Always list your items 30% more than what you want to sell them for
If you are a seasoned posher you most likely already know this info. However, a lot of newer poshers and poshmark buyers are unaware of the fees included in a sale on the resellers end.
According to Poshmark, “For all sales under $15, Poshmark takes a flat commission of $2.95. You keep the rest. For sales of $15 or more, you keep 80% of your sale and Poshmark's commission is 20%.”
If you Google “Poshmark Fee Chart,” then click ‘Images,’ you’ll find several fee charts that will show you exactly how much Poshmark takes, and how much you ultimately make.
To ensure you are accounting for these fees, list items 30% higher than what you normally would.
Not only does this ensure you make your money back after Poshmark takes their cut, but it also allows for flexibility to send or receive offers.
In the next two points, I’m going to explain my process to effectively send offers like a pro. Following these pro tips will ensure you are doing everything in your power to maximize your chance of making the sell.
2. Send offers to all of your likers
I recommend sending an offer to every person that likes your item. Most buyers on Poshmark won’t purchase until they get some discount.
To send an offer, go to your individual item:
1. Click the offer/ price drop button
2. Choose offer to likers
3. You’re required to drop the price by at least 10%
4. You are also required to choose a discounted shipping
5. Submit
Again, Poshmark requires you to drop the price by 10% and give discounted shipping.
You see why you should list items a little higher to start? Wiggle room will be needed to effectively sell your item. Follow my 10-20-30 rule to create an efficient offer to likers process.
3. Follow the 10-20-30 rule
Every time you send an offer to a liker, the offer must be 10% more than the previous offer.
I recommend starting with a 10% offer and the lowest shipping discount. After a week or two, if nobody budges, offer another 10% discount.
For the old likers, you’ll have to offer them 10% more than the previous offer. So that would be 20% the second time. Then wait a week or two.
The third attempt, you have to offer 30% off.
If it doesn’t sell after the third attempt, relist your item. Do not drop lower than what you are comfortable with.
4. Send mass offers on Closet Clear Out Day
Wait to offer discounts to your new likers until there is a Closet Clear Out Day.
Spoiler alert, Poshmark will eat the cost of your discounted shipping, so you don’t have to.
If you do all your offers to likers on a Closet Clear Out Day, you’ll get to send out tons of offers with discounted shipping! Woohoo!
5. Bypass the shipping discount with the bundle system
If you want to bypass offering shipping you can create a bundle and make the offer through the bundle system.
Check out our blog on how to create a bundle, if you need more information.
When you are creating a bundle for a specific liker, try to take their style into consideration. What item of yours did they like? What size was it? Do you have a matching pair of shoes or shorts that would look great with it? Or do you have a similar top she would probably like too? Keep these in mind when creating a bundle.
This is an amazing system to use if someone liked one of your items that is $10 or less. Your item is so cheap, you really can’t go any lower. However, adding other items to it will allow you to offer a discount for the entire bundle.
Once you create this bundle, reach out to them. Leave them a comment on their closet that you made them a bundle!
6. Be patient and don’t give in to low-ball offers
Say you have a high-end item listed at $150, and the retail value for it is $249.00 and some crazy low-baller comes in at a $50 offer.
What do you do?
Well, that is entirely up to you and how much you paid for it. In my personal opinion, we are not running garage sales here and I will not just give my items away.
First, attempt to counteroffer with a reasonable price. If they continue to low-ball, reject the offer. Have patience and wait for someone who is willing to pay a fair price.
